进程说明库与说明库更新
免费
用平实的话解释你在“活动监视器”中看到的名称,大约每周根据一份经过签名的列表刷新一次。
The problem
Activity Monitor is full of names like mds_stores, cloudd and coreaudiod. When one of them is busy, you cannot tell whether that is normal, whether it will settle, or whether there is anything you can do.
The process library gives each common name a plain explanation: what it is, when it gets busy and what you can do about it. It ships inside the app, so it works offline. Hedroom's detectors read the same list, so they do not raise an alarm for something that is busy for a good reason.
How it works
- Look up. Search for the name you saw in Activity Monitor, or open it from an app's row with "What's this process?".
- Read four things. What it is, when it gets busy, what you can do, and whether it is Apple's. Apple processes are explain-only: there is no button.
- Detectors use it. The same list marks processes that are normally busy, such as Spotlight indexing, and apps that are normally large, so Hedroom does not flag them.
- Stay current. About once a week Hedroom downloads a newer signed copy. It checks the signature and that the version is newer before using it, and keeps the old copy if anything fails.
- Admit gaps. A name it does not know reads "Hedroom doesn't know this one yet.", with a link to search Apple's support site. It never makes up an answer.
What you will see
A search box ("Search a name you saw in Activity Monitor") and a list of results. The detail view of an Apple process reads "Apple process" and the name, then a plain explanation, "When it gets busy" and "What you can do", with a footer saying Hedroom never pauses, slows or quits Apple processes. If nothing matches, it says so.
In Settings › Privacy you see when the library was last updated and its version, with a Check now button that reports up to date, updated, couldn't reach, or couldn't verify.
A worked example
Example, not real data
mds_stores after restoring a backup
Say you restored files from a backup and mds_stores sits near the top of Activity Monitor for half an hour. You search for it. The library says it is the Spotlight search index, which gets busy "After big file changes, macOS updates, restoring a backup or plugging in a large drive."
What you can do: "Let it finish. It usually settles within an hour. You can exclude folders in System Settings › Spotlight." Hedroom raises no CPU finding for it, because the library marks it as normally busy, and offers no pause or quit, because it is Apple's.
Details and limits
What it will not do
Limits
- 说明库涵盖常见的名称。遇到它不认识的名称时,Hedroom 会说“Hedroom 还不认识这一项。”

Explaining a process changes nothing on your Mac, so it is free, forever.
Questions people ask
Does looking up a process send anything?
No. Lookups happen on your Mac. The weekly update is a plain download with no cookies or identifiers, and it sends nothing about your Mac.
Who wrote the explanations, and can I trust them?
Hedroom wrote them, in one file signed with an Ed25519 key. The app ignores a copy that is not signed by Hedroom or is not newer than the one it has. Each entry carries a reviewed flag, and a person has to review the text before a release ships.
Can I stop an Apple process from here?
No. Anything signed by Apple or in a system folder is explain-only.
Does it work offline?
Yes, the library ships inside the app. Updates are skipped at critical memory pressure, in Low Power Mode, or with the battery under 20%.
