Free vs Pro: what changes when your trial ends
Seeing what is slowing your Mac is free and stays free. Changing things, and the receipts that prove the change, are Pro. This page lists which is which, and what you will see on the day Pro ends.
These steps describe Hedroom 1.0. The app is not released yet and checkout is closed, so nobody has a trial today. The behavior below is what the app is built to do.
The short version
- Free, forever, with no card and no account: monitoring, plain-words explanations, the process library, alerts, the storage scan and the menu bar.
- Pro: fixes, rules, new receipts, storage cleanup and the switches in the tools. It is a subscription that starts with a 7-day free trial. The trial needs a card and includes everything in Pro.
Prices are on pricing. For what happens with billing, see Billing, trial and refunds.

Three details that the table cannot show:
- Undo is never locked. If you turned off a startup item or tried a display tip and Pro then ends, you can still put it back.
- The browser companion is free. Pressing Sleep idle tabs works on Free. On Free it leaves a log row but no new receipt, like every action. The automatic tab-sleep rule is a rule, so it is Pro.
- Leak and critical-pressure alerts stay free. They are the part that tells you something is wrong, so they are not locked.
What you will see when Pro ends
Pro ends when a trial is cancelled and runs out, a subscription is cancelled and its paid period ends, or a full refund or a dispute is processed. Hedroom notices at its next license check, which runs about every 7 days. In each case the Mac goes back to the Free column.
- Pressing a fix opens a sheet. It reads "Fixes are part of Pro", with Start 7-day free trial, Enter license key and Not now. A click is never a silent no-op.
- Rules stay, switched off. They are kept, not deleted, and carry the badge "Paused — Pro". Hedroom Pro runs them again when you are back on Pro.
- Receipts you have stay readable. No new ones are made after Pro ends. Your history is kept.
- Cleanup still scans. The scan is free, and "Clean up" opens the Pro sheet.
- Settings says so. After a cancelled subscription has ended, the license card reads "This subscription has ended. The free features still work and your data is kept."
Hedroom never deletes your files, receipts or settings because a license ended.
Check where you stand
- Open Hedroom's Settings and find the license card.
- It shows Hedroom Pro · free trial or Hedroom Pro · active, with a line such as "Trial ends" or "Renews" and a date, taken from the last license check.
- To stop a renewal, press Manage subscription, or use Manage your subscription on this site with your license key.
- Hedroom does not send a reminder before a subscription trial ends. Note the date on the welcome page or the license card and cancel before it if you do not want to be charged.
Frequently confused
- Uninstalling does not cancel a subscription. Cancel first. Uninstall steps.
- Offline. Hedroom checks your license about every 7 days. If it has not been able to for over 30 days, Settings asks you to connect to the internet once and check again.
- No fix shown is not a Pro problem. A healthy Mac has nothing to fix. See Why Hedroom shows no fix right now.
If this did not work
If Hedroom shows the Free sheet but you believe you are on Pro, enter the key again with Enter license key, or follow Move your license if the key is on another Mac. If it still disagrees with your invoice, write to support with your Hedroom and macOS versions, and never your license key.
